Most audits are bait. Vague deliverables, fuzzy scope, a strategy doc that arrives weeks late and reads like a sales brochure. Here's what you actually get from a GEO audit with us — in plain language, so you know before you pay.
Step 1: We map the prompts that matter to your business
The audit starts with a call. We want to understand your buyers and the questions they're asking AI about your category. Together we assemble a target prompt set — informational, navigational, transactional — usually thirty to sixty prompts total. These are the questions we'll measure you against every month.
We also map your competitors to the same prompt set. You see who owns each citation today — and who needs to get dislodged.
Step 2: We check if AI crawlers can actually read your site
We audit your robots.txt for every bot that matters — GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, CCBot, Google-Extended. We validate every major page's schema.org emission against Google Rich Results Test. We check whether you ship an llms.txt. We measure your Core Web Vitals against Google's published thresholds.
Every failure gets logged with a remediation scope and an effort estimate. Nothing theoretical — specific broken things, specific fixes.
Step 3: We map your entity graph
Your brand identity across the web: Wikidata, Google Knowledge Panel, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn Company, GitHub org, Crunchbase, G2, Clutch. Which ones exist, which ones are thin, which ones are missing.
Every missing or weak profile gets logged with creation steps and expected timeline. This is usually the layer where we find the easiest wins.
Step 4: We check if your content is quotable
For every prompt in your target set, we ask: does a landing page exist on your site that should rank for this? If yes, is it written in a way the AI can cite verbatim? If no, what kind of content would win it?
Gaps become content briefs. Existing pages that aren't performing get rewrite recommendations. Everything tied to a specific prompt so the work has a measurable outcome.
Step 5: We establish your baseline
We run your target prompt set against ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews. We record, for every prompt, whether your brand is cited, where in the response, and how the AI framed you.
This baseline is the number every subsequent monthly report is measured against. You see it moving — or you see what's getting in the way.
Step 6: You get the deliverable
A single written report: executive summary, scored results across all four layers, prioritized fix list with effort estimates, proposed implementation scope. Fixed price. Yours to keep whether or not we implement.
At this point you decide: implement with us, implement in-house with our framework, or take the findings to another firm. We win either way — because prospects who take the audit seriously and hire someone else to implement often come back when the other firm can't execute.
What you walk away with
- A written assessment of every AI-visibility dimension that matters.
- A baseline citation rate across every major AI system against your target prompts.
- A prioritized fix list with effort estimates — yours regardless.
- A clear implementation scope if you want us to ship it.
- No mystery, no scope creep, no surprise invoices.
If you want to see the full post-audit engagement, the GEO consulting service page lays it out. For the monthly measurement cadence that kicks off after implementation, see the four-layer measurement framework.
